Tell us about your career in the fitness and nutrition industry?
As a teenager I was a member of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets. We were always active in sports, hiking, and fitness. At 19 I joined the Reserves which I retired after 31 years in 2017. As a military member I always led by example where healthy living habits were concerned. I was always interested in the fitness industry and once retired from the military I finally had time to certify as a personal trainer and started working at Fitbody Bootcamp where I had been a member since the time that their doors had opened. It was just a natural next step that I am so happy I made.
What inspires you?
In my career as a personal trainer and Balanced Habits coach [I’m inspired by] seeing the results, the smiles, the progression, the confidence and changes with members that come in the door and trust the process. There are members who have had such great results that it inspires me to be the best person I can be. My family inspires me in life. Being healthy and able to make the most of the time with my daughter and 2 grand-daughters when I can see them in South Korea is very important to me.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy the fun and energy that coaching brings. Planning inspiring workouts and putting together the best Balanced Habits™ 4-Week Program possible are all so much fun. I just cannot leave in a bad mood no matter what mood I was in when walking in.
What special qualities do you bring to your coaching?
OMG, I have done it all! I don’t think there is anything I haven’t tried so, I can easily say this program excites me and is easy to follow with fantastic results. I have taken the time to learn and understand the in’s and out’s of the program and embrace it all the way. I believe I am a real life example and I live the program with them!
Please tell us about some of your most memorable client experiences as a Food Coach.
One of our most successful young ladies continued on following the program and was doing great. One night she was really down. I asked what was up and she said she was frustrated and not having success. I took a new “now photo” (I don’t like the term “after” because it says you are done and can go back to what you were doing). I then sent her the before, end of the KS and the now photos. This was all she needed to realize she was doing GREAT! The other client I think of is one that was only eating once a day. Although small, she was not as healthy as she could be. Her changes were so noticeable and she now eats 5 times a day.
What do you like to do for fun?
I love being outside. Hiking, gardening, on the water…bring it on!
Thank you for your passion and hard work Jennifer!
