Tell us about your career in the fitness and nutrition industry?

I started coaching high school water polo and swimming at my alma mater, Huntington Beach High School, back in 2009. I spent five years coaching high school and age group kids through club. I was offered a position as a graduate assistant for the aquatics programs at Whittier College. I spent my first two years coaching and gaining my master of arts in education. Once I graduated I was offered the head coaching position and spent two years building the swimming and diving program. I transitioned from coaching aquatics to personal training in 2017. After having gained my certification I taught bootcamps and have been a covering trainer for our three locations.

What inspires you?

Having coached for over ten years I love the motivational and mental aspect of training. Being the best possible version of yourself inspires me everyday to push myself, both mentally and physically. I like exploring and learning, so always pushing myself out of my comfort zone has allowed me to grow in ways I didn’t think possible.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I love interacting and motivating clients. Creating new routines and keeping their sessions exciting hopefully keeps them coming back for more! Working out and eating well has always been my lifestyle because my parents made it a point to cook home-cooked meals and keep us active. I continue to love being active whether that be in the gym, taking walks or swimming. And I love cooking and baking, using fresh ingredients and enjoying my relationship with food. Being able to show clients that it is attainable to live a regular life and still stay on track has been awesome!

What special qualities do you bring to your coaching?

Having coached at the collegiate level I have experience in working with elite athletes and their nutritional needs. After transitioning from athletics to personal training I have learned a lot about various types of nutritional styles and ideologies. And even more so being pregnant and actually living the prenatal part of this journey has brought in so much experience and knowledge on that front. I hope my experience will be motivating and inspiring for other moms and mom-to-be’s.

What are your most memorable client experiences as a Food Coach?

Running boot camps throughout Balanced Habits™ 4-Week Program really helped me connect further with each client. It was a great way to supplement the nutritional side with getting to motivate our clients to create more healthy habits along the way.

What is your favorite Food Hack?

Hard boiled eggs! I always have hard boiled eggs in the fridge. They are so versatile, an easy snack on their own or you can add them to salads!

Tell us something that not everyone knows about you?

I am pregnant and our baby boy is due on Thanksgiving!
