A Message from Your Balanced Habits™ Team

Month two of this New Year. How are your goals hanging in there?  “Still a work in progress” is the answer we are looking for.☺ Remember that practice makes better.  Nothing is perfect.  Lots of things can be getting better.  Small, incremental changes eventually add up to big, meaningful change eventually, IF you remain consistent with practice.  Think how much practice being an Olympic downhill skier took! Each and every day they consistently practiced and they got better and better each day ‘til they made the Olympic team!

The goal is to practice the new, more balanced habits that support the type of life you wish to live.  Practicing how you wish to feel, look, and embody is the only way you can get better at it.  No magic wands here….just good old fashioned doing ‘til you do it so often your new, more balanced habit goes unnoticed…as all habits tend to do. 

Spend just one minute each day to envision you, being a person who is confident, self-possessed and in control of your own decisions, as they relate to your health and wellness.  No one can want this for you….”it” has to come from within.  Do whatever it takes to not be a part of that group that tosses in the towel by March because your goals took too long to unfold.  Consistency is the ONLY way to build a balanced habit. DAY IN AND DAY OUT…..keep plugging away.

Balanced Habits™ Recipe of the Month

Aquafaba Meringue Kiss Cookies

Ingredients

15 oz. can Garbanzo (Chickpea) Beans

1/3 cup Splenda Sugar Blend or

2/3 cup Granulated Sugar

2 tsp. YOUR CHOICE EXTRACT
(Traditional is Almond, but you can use whatever you want to!)

*Optional Food Coloring (color to match flavor?)

Directions

Pre heat oven to 250 ° F

Step One

Line two baking sheets with parchment paper (don’t spray with oil or use foil).

Step Two

Drain canned Garbanzo beans; reserving all the aquafaba. You should have about 3/4 cup of liquid. Pour Aquafaba into a mixing bowl. Beat on high speed with a whisk attachment until stiff peaks form; as little as 5 min., as much as 15 minutes. Once the stiff peaks have been accomplished, add sugar 1 heaping Tbsp. at a time, and whisk until the mixture is glossy. Finally, add the extract(s).

Step Three

Using a gallon Ziploc bag, fill with the foamy mixture, Ziploc the bag then cut a small “tip” in one corner of the bag.  Use this as your “pastry tube” to create gorgeous meringues!  Bake for 1 1/2 – 2 hours, or until the meringues are dry and firm to the touch. Let meringues cool before serving.  These little cookie will keep for 2 – 3 days in an airtight container.
